  • Special Interest: Extracranial Stereotactic Radiosurgery, accelerated fractionation, highly conformal therapies (IMRT), imaging technologies, image fusion, and advanced quality assurance techniques (IGRT and dose verification).

Dr. Cavanaugh began his education with an undergraduate degree in Physics and a student internship at the Las Alamos National Laboratories Proton Facility, followed by Medical School at Texas Tech University. During Residency he completed the Holman Research pathway through the American Board of Radiology and was twice the recipient of The Roentgen Resident Research Award. Dr. Cavanaugh is board certified by The American Board of Radiology and is a member in good standing of The American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology.

He and his wife, Dr. Laura Cavanaugh, were Medical School classmates and have been blessed with four children and one enormous mastiff. When he is not caring for patients, he dedicates the majority of his time to faith and family. However, when time permits he might be found big game hunting or obsessing over automobiles.
