New Trend in Cancer Centers Means More Convenient and Accessible Treatment

When undergoing treatment for prostate or other types of cancer, it is common for a man to seek care at two or more physicians’ offices. Trips between medical and radiation oncologists can be a waste of precious energy, which is often lacking while undergoing treatment.

Thanks to new comprehensive treatment centers such as the Georgia Centers for Total Cancer Care (GCTCC), traveling hours between offices is no longer an issue. Such centers house medical and radiation oncologists, provide services such as CT scanning and imaging, and feature on-site pharmacies.

“Patients undergoing treatment for cancer receive care and services which often take them to many locations, several days of the week,” said Dr. Bruce Feinberg, CEO of Georgia Cancer Specialists, who along with Atlanta Oncology Associates, are founding partners of GCTCC.

“Complete oncology care requires so much more than just a physician’s office. Our vision is to create comprehensive cancer treatment super centers that meet the total needs of cancer patients in one location.”

The Georgia Centers for Total Cancer Care are currently in four locations throughout North and Central Georgia, with another opening in Lawrenceville in 2007.
