Atlanta Oncology Associates Breaks Ground on New Cancer Center at Cowles Clinic

Atlanta Oncology Associates (AOA), one of the largest radiation therapy groups in the Southeast, had a groundbreaking ceremony for their new 10,000 square foot radiation oncology center at Cowles Clinic in the Lake Oconee area on August 26, 2005. The center will provide full time radiology and chemotherapy treatment as well as an amphitheater that will be used as an educational facility for cancer patients and the Lake Oconee community.

Robert Cowles III, M.D., founder of Cowles Clinic, Dale McCord, M.D., President of Atlanta Oncology Associates, and other dignitaries from the local business community, as well as the Greene County, Putnam County and Morgan County Chambers of Commerce, were in attendance.

"We are thrilled to now offer our state-of-the-art cancer care in Lake Oconee at Cowles Clinic," said Dr. McCord.

The addition of AOA brings a new element of care to the already expansive Cowles Clinic. The medical center is a multi-specialty medical campus that offers services in the fields of urology, cardiology, oncology, internal medicine, plastic surgery, women’s care and reproductive surgery, general surgery, sports medicine, pain management, and radiology.  It also includes a lab facility.

The new AOA center is located on the Cowles Clinic campus at 1000 Cowles Clinic Way, south of Lake Oconee Parkway in Reynolds Walk on Linger Longer Road.
