Roxanne Gantt
Forty-eight-year-old Roxanne Gantt of Roswell, GA was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2010. After 32 radiation therapy treatments at GeorgiaCenter for Total Cancer Care at Preston Ridge, in Alpharetta, Georgia,Roxanne is in remission and feeling great.
As a very strong and self-sufficient woman, it was very difficult for me to learn that I had breast cancer and would need to begin treatment immediately. I considered myself fortunate when I learned that the cancer had not spread to my lymph nodes and immediately got on the ball to determine what type of cancer treatment plan would be best for me.
After meeting with several local doctors and weighing all of my options, it was determined that I would need a lumpectomy followed by radiation therapy. The next step was choosing a radiation therapy facility, and after my first meeting with the physicians and staff at Georgia Center for Total Cancer Care at Preston Ridge,my decision was made. Dr. Mark McCord and his staff immediately made me so comfortable and at ease, which was important to me at a time when I was feeling very scared and vulnerable. I am the type that likes to ask a lot of questions, and Dr. McCord gave me all the time I ever needed throughout my entire treatment process.
Radiation therapy was a great treatment option for me because it allowed me to continue to live my life while undergoing a very effective, precise cancer therapy that was non-invasive and had very few symptoms. Dr. McCord and his staff could not have been more accommodating with my schedule as I was able to go in every morning at the same time and make it to work each day on time. The facility was also only ten minutes away from my home, and I was shocked to learn that I could receive excellent, state-of-the-art care right around the corner and not have to drive all the way into the closest big city to receive the care I needed each day.
I am happy to say today that I am officially in remission and am now only going in for follow up blood work. A big thank you to Dr. McCord and his wonderful caregiving staff for the care they provided to me and provide to other cancer patients in our community each day!
